At Kingfisher Primary Academy, we believe that every child deserves a rich and engaging learning experience that builds firm foundations for future success. Our curriculum is carefully designed to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum while also reflecting the unique needs and aspirations of our pupils and community. We want our children to leave Kingfisher not only with strong academic skills but also as confident, curious and compassionate individuals who are ready to thrive in the world beyond the classroom.
Learning at Kingfisher is exciting and purposeful. We set high expectations for every pupil, encouraging them to take pride in their learning, aim high, and challenge themselves to go further. Our approach to teaching is inclusive and adaptive, ensuring that all learners, regardless of starting point, can achieve their full potential. Teachers plan carefully sequenced lessons that build knowledge over time, while also developing the critical thinking, creativity and resilience needed for lifelong learning.
We place a strong focus on reading, writing and mathematics as the foundation for success across the curriculum. Alongside these core subjects, pupils study a broad and balanced curriculum including science, history, geography, computing, art, music, PE and more. Subjects are taught with depth and progression, enabling pupils to develop meaningful understanding and connections between areas of learning. Where appropriate, learning is enriched with real-life experiences, visits and visitors to bring subjects to life.
Our curriculum is underpinned by our core values: building character, love of learning, hopes and dreams and working together. These values guide everything we do – from the way we treat one another, to the choices we make in our learning, and the pride we take in our community and achievements. At Kingfisher, we nurture children’s character as well as their academic ability, helping them grow into responsible, kind and motivated individuals.
We expect our pupils to be active participants in their learning, to show perseverance, respect, and a willingness to try new things. In return, we provide a safe, supportive and stimulating environment where every child can flourish.
