Science
“The science of today is the technology of tomorrow.”
– Edward Teller
At Kingfisher Primary we expect the highest aspirations for our pupils. We want all children to learn and make academic progress no matter their starting points. We have a clear vision for what we want pupils to achieve during their time at Kingfisher Primary and have designed our curriculum to give all pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding they will need in their future years.
The Purpose of Science
Science is all about developing children’s ideas and ways of working that enable them to make greater sense of the world in which they live. This can be through investigation, enquiry and applying process skills
We want pupils to:
- Have a range of practical experiences where they build their skills of observation, measuring, asking questions, gathering and recording data
- Look forward to each of their science lessons, knowing they are learning about the world around them
- Explore the natural world and things which may be unfamiliar to them, gaining an understanding of how science relates to themselves
- Have fun and exciting lessons and activities to engage them in a world filled of science, moving towards science-related careers
- Enjoyed by all children, regardless of their background or ability
